Governor Jeff Landry used remarks before the Louisiana Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to reinforce a central theme of his administration: economic growth depends on expanding opportunity for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and workers across every community in the state.

Speaking to business leaders from across Louisiana, Landry emphasized that Hispanic-owned businesses are an increasingly important driver of job creation and local investment. He highlighted the role small and midsize businesses play in strengthening regional economies and argued that state government should focus on creating a regulatory and tax environment that allows those businesses to grow and compete.

Landry pointed to workforce participation, public safety, and economic stability as interconnected priorities. He framed recent policy efforts as part of a broader push to make Louisiana more attractive to employers while ensuring communities remain safe and welcoming places to live and work. According to Landry, economic development strategies only succeed when businesses have confidence in the overall direction of the state.

The governor also stressed the importance of educational and workforce pipelines that align with real-world job needs. He noted that entrepreneurship and skilled labor development are essential to sustaining long-term growth, particularly as Louisiana works to diversify its economy beyond traditional sectors.

For members of the Hispanic Chamber, the remarks reflected growing recognition of their role in Louisiana’s economic future. Hispanic-owned businesses represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the state’s business community, contributing not only to urban economies but also to rural and suburban areas across Louisiana.

Landry’s appearance comes as the state seeks to build on recent momentum in economic development, including major industrial, technology, and infrastructure investments. Administration officials argue that broad-based growth — inclusive of minority-owned and immigrant-founded businesses — strengthens Louisiana’s competitiveness and resilience.

The address underscored a practical political reality as well: sustained economic growth requires engagement with a wide range of business communities. By highlighting entrepreneurship, workforce readiness, and opportunity, Landry signaled that his economic agenda is intended to be expansive, positioning Louisiana to compete nationally while lifting participation across its diverse population.
