Trump appoints Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry to Council of Governors

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry was appointed to President Donald Trump’s Council of Governors.

The group is tasked with strengthening state-federal partnerships on key national security, disaster response, and military coordination issues, according to the White House.


Landry wrote on X, “Honored to be appointed by @realdonaldtrump to the bipartisan Council of Governors. Louisiana is at the forefront—driving efforts to strengthen our national security, disaster response, and military coordination. I’m ready to work alongside fellow leaders to Make America Great Again!”


Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein were named council co-chairs.

  • Maryland Gov. Wes Moore

  • Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
